Diesel, a blind dog with a lot of love to give

¬†     Woof, I am Diesel! I'm a 4- year-old shar pei mix looking for a new home.

Well, "Looking" only in the figurative sense, as in "seeking," because, even though I have beautiful eyes that seem perfectly normal, I am blind.

Because I can't see, I am very wary around new people, and my former family had a lot of folks coming and going at their house, so, well, that didn't work out very well. But even though I do need time to get to know a person, once I do, he/she is a friend for life!

Otherwise, I am a very well behaved boy. I have excellent house manners, walk well on a leash, generally come when I'm called, and know Sit, Stay, and Shake! I love to go for walks, and play tug. I also get along with other dogs I have met.

Living with a blind dog does take a little more patience and understanding, but there are some really good websites that can make the adjustment easier: Owners of Blind Dogs ( , for instance, has things like New Owner Resources, a message board, even suggestions for toys and games for blind dogs. Blind Dogs. net ( is another great site, with resources and lots of stories of dogs with vision challenges. I'll bet both sites can put you in touch with experienced blind dog companions who can help advise on socializing me with strangers!

I just want someone to love. Oh, and if you happen to have a comfortable couch for me to lie on with you, so much the better!
